Now its no secret that I love food. I love to buy it I love to cook and I sure as hell love to eat it! Now one of the biggest let downs in Albion is the SERIOUS lack of options when it comes to dining out. Here you really only have 5 choices and truth be told none of them are all that fabulous. Being as I have eaten at all of these place on more then on occasion I thought I would write up a review on all of them for you. Keep in mind this is only my perspective based on the service and quality of the food that I have received at each of these establishments. So lets begin I'll lists these from worst to best.
5. Aside from the fact that the hygiene of the staff is suspect I would rather chew my own arm off then ever eat here! No Im not exaggerating not one bit. I understand that in food service mistakes happen but at the Albion Runza fucking up your order seems to be par for the course. my family and I have eaten here on more then one occasions and every single time they have screwed up our order no joke EVERY SINGLE TIME! and by screwed up I mean not just forgetting your fries but serving my step daughter raw chicken.The place is hopeless even after calls to the owner the place continues to be the epitome of everything thats wrong with food service. It is only a matter of time before some gets sick and dies from this restaurants gross incompetence then there wont be a Runza to put on the list.
4. Junction 14/91 Restaurant
OK let me start by saying this, I have worked in food service longer then most of the kitchen staff at the junction has been alive so it puts me at a different vantage point then most people. I have only eaten here twice and that was more then enough. any restaurant that has the audacity to MICROWAVE a rib-eye steak and expect it to be edible when served to their guests has no business being in business! Thinking about eating the buffet? Dont! unless of course you enjoy dehydrated chicken soaked in grease. Not as bad as runza but not worthy of one dime in my wallet!
3. Casey's
HOLD THE PHONE! A GAS STATION? yup thats right. caseys has by far the best pizza ever! and I mean that. The take out side of the casey's operation could stand on its own but what puts this place in the # 3 position is one its a gas station. two the clerks here only have two speeds slow and slower. three there is no seating so take out only and did i mention its a gas station?
2. Subway
ok I have never had a problem with subway ever. I have only ever eaten there at night so i dont know if the day staff is retarded or not but Robin and the other night shift gals crack me up. the only reason why subway isn't in the number one spot is simple ... how hard is it really to fuck up a sandwich?
I do however highly recommend subway.
1. Pizza Hut
OK now let me say this first given a choice of pizza places any where in the world pizza hut does not even make my top 10 but being this is Albion its #1 on the list for these reasons. The first being I have nothing bad to say about the Albion pizza hut its not their fault i don't care for their recipes and they have no control over them. Two the customer service and management is wonderful! There is a solid established staff and the manager Linda has been with the company for 30 years. The place is clean the service is great and the food comes out right hot and fast. In a town with limited options to eat, pizza hut is the best. The only downside for me it that its Pizza Hut.
back in the early 1990's jean and i lived together briefly with another friend of ours over on seventh street. back then there was a place called the dew drop inn it use to stand where runza is now. the place had a feel all its own and just the pepsi memorabilia alone made it fun to be there. I had a lot of good food and good times at the dew drop back then Albion needs a place like the dew drop again we really do because places like Runza and the junction just are not cutting it!
